Speechy are a team of renegade TV scriptwriters who are on a mission to make wedding speeches a bit more blooming brilliant. We think the words at a wedding are more important than the flowers or the bunting and just as important as the cake! We deliver the craftsmanship, creativity and pinch of craziness every speech deserves.
As scriptwriters we’ve written BBC entertainment shows and Channel 4 comedy series, as well as for people like Richard Hammond, Sharon Osbourne and Dan Snow.
Our success is down to a few clever writing techniques and a passion for storytelling. That’s why wedding bibles such as Wedding Ideas, Confetti, County Weddings & RocknRollBride have raved about our ideas. Now we’d love you to take credit for our work!
What We Do
We work with grooms, brides, best men & women and relations-of-the-bride to create bespoke wedding speeches. Unlike traditional speechwriters we don’t use templates as we think each speech needs to be as individual as the couple it’s celebrating.
Whether it’s a hipster London bash, a second marriage in Sardinia, a gay wedding in California or a marquee in Milton Keynes, we reckon you deserve more than a ‘cut and paste’ job. That’s why our speeches can be anything you want them to be (requests so far have included ‘cheeky’, ‘sentimental’, ‘musical’ and ‘a bit Stephen Fry-y’). The only thing our speeches have in common is that they’re a bit blooming brilliant.
Find out which of our packages will work for you on Our Services & Shop page. We provide an Emergency Service for people who need a fast turnaround speech and a Sponsor a Speaker plan where couples can send a gift voucher to prospective speakers. We also run regular Wedding Speech Workshops for people who want to nail their speech in a day.
How We Do It
Firstly, we speak to you and work out what sort of speech you’re after. Next, we fuse our noggins together to create something brilliant. Even if you don’t think you’ve much to contribute, we’re masters at getting the best out of that brain of yours.
Our secret is our Inspirationnaire (we’re working on the name). It’s essentially a questionnaire to get you thinking. It helps us identify how we’re going to create a speech that will kick-start the newlyweds’ union with a bang.

Who We Are…
Speechy is made up of a bunch of TV scriptwriters who realised we had something else in common; our friends and family all abused our ability to write a great wedding speech.
Whether it’s being Best Man at a total of six weddings or writing our partner’s Groom speech (cheating we know), it was clear people liked the way we told a story. And it turns out we rather liked writing them…
We decided to give up writing for the likes of David Mitchel, Mel Giedroyc and Adrian Chiles to set up Speechy because we realised it was rather lovely writing about love. We also wanted to work for a great boss (us) and wear slippers most of the day.
THE SPEECH CRUSADERS
Heidi likes to think of herself as Speechy’s wise leader (the others aren’t so sure). She does have an amazing knowledge of random furry mammals due to her time spent producing The One Show.
Nathan’s survived producing several reality shows relatively unscathed. He’s a softie at heart and he gave one of the best Groom’s speeches known to man at his recent Wedding.
Wedding Connoisseur. She can smell a good speech at 100 paces. She also sings in a country band and gives good banter. She’s nice. You’ll like her.
Sarah’s actually only watched telly but she’s an aspiring novelist and we call on her poetry talent when we need to. She’s basically Pam Ayres minus a few decades.
The naughty one. He’s been Best Man far too many times but is yet to give his own Groom’s speech. He does Stand Up comedy in his spare time and knows his malt whiskies.
The Speechy mascot. As the Bard said “Though she be but little, she is fierce!”.
What We Know
We know that a good speech can make a wedding great. We also know it’s the speeches people remember, not the bunting or the chair covers.
Through experience, reading lots of clever books and going to hundreds of weddings, we’ve learnt…‘What Makes a Great Wedding Speech’.
